When I was in grade eight and nine I was in online schooling, with the exception of one class. I attended a Science class at a catholic junior high not far from my school, for both years. There, I met two wonderful girls named Jenna and Katie and we were a close trio for the two years.
I was at Science class one day, in a group with Jenna and Katie, working on a project just like everyone else was doing. The teacher had stepped out of the classroom to get science supplies from the science lab.
There was a girl named Laura in our class, for both years, who made fun of Jenna and Katie daily. Today was no exception, and she started with writing a line on the board. “Katie has a unibrow, ha ha”. Jenna and Katie, being the kind of people who don’t like to confront their bully, but instead use the ignoring technique, continued on without batting an eye. I, on the other hand, didn’t.
I walked up to the board and wrote, “Laura is a lesbian, ha ha”. This sent the classroom into hysterical laughter, but upset Laura quite a lot. She fought back with, “Oh Sherri, you’re going to get it,” and came towards the board.
I smiled at her.
I walked past her, back to my desk with the marker. She followed me and proceeded to scare me by saying "you better give me that marker," I smiled again, and started reading my science textbook. She started saying, Sherri goes to cyber school because she’s a loner,”
That is when I punched her face, so hard that she fell over into a desk. She was so shocked that she looked at me in disbelief and went to her desk and sat down without another word. Katie and Jenna just sat in their desks laughing.
When class was over, I waited for her at the doorway when class was over and she waited and waited until I left, but I never did. She finally decided to go through the door, and ran nonetheless.
Jenna and Katie waited for me outside of the classroom, and gave me highfives when I got out.
Bullies should not be given power.
